Vintage shoot
I spent a lovely summery day in Sydney at the Botanical gardens shooting some of my last seasons designs with a beautiful old styled hot rod that had been assembled by a friend. We spent the day eating, laughing and shooting beautiful pics until the sun went down...

TRANSCENDENCE by Tanu Vasu
I am motivated by the fashions ability to transform a person and in turn providing uniqueness and identity.
Some of my works have been heavily influenced by social architectural cultural and scientific domains which are a contributing factor to how fashion had progressed and developed.
The garment is a luxurious piece, an elegant evening dress. Its sophistication is notable by the lavish 100% raw silk that encompasses the bodice and tiers. Moreover ornate and intricate bead work is the chief feature of the garment as the Crystals accompanied by delicate glass beads offer a prestigious and distinctive look. From my travels around the world I have taken many inspirations and the garment itself resonates with my global influences. Notions have taken from various countries such as Italy, England, India, Greece and France this has then been incorporated in the construction of the piece. The tries produce a bustle effect through the insertion of tulle, which creates the illusion of feminine beauty, a full figured frame.

The Brandon Sun Show consisted if many unique elements merged to get her including fur, pastels and fine tailoring. These elements are extremely different but was brought out beautifully in the collection! Merging such different elements together can be seen as a difficult task but Sun has exceptionally created definitive looks with the use of these materials. The use of pastel colours in combination with the use of delicate fabrics allowed for the exaggeration of the flowing fabrics. The Brandon Sun showing at NYFW was incredibly exceptional!

PARIS : The city of blinding lights
Travelling by the Channel from London to Paris was an incredible experience, The lustrous mountains and crystal blue sky were able to bee seen on my journey. The second I stepped out of the Paris station I immediately felt that Paris has its own unique rhythm to other cities. It may be the heritage antique buildings surrounding the streets or the Parisian artists, the rivers that pass through the stunning city or could it be simply the fact that Paris is the worlds fashion capital. The range of post modern and eclectic fashion overpowers the city especially during fashion week. Then again Paris is the home to most of the worlds luxurious high fashion companies. Walking down the Champs Elysée heading to the Louis Vuitton Flagship was like walking down a personal line of shops set in place just for me. This amazing street consisted of some of the most beautiful stores accompanied by striking window displays. A vivid mix of glistening lights were on display. The focal point from where I was standing was the Arc de Triomphe with the several roads surrounding it. Paris seemed to be revolving around the Triomphe like it was the centre. The Paris opera is another one of my favourite buildings due to its beautiful and intricate exteriors and interiors with a touch of Gothic Parisian fusion. Just observe the colour and light and you will see the enchantment of this city. Through my exploration of the back streets and cafes I discovered classic meals, talented artists and lavish small boutiques that enhanced my thoughts on the city itself. I would finish each day with a gorgeous French meal overlooking the city. All I can say is that Paris has its own distinct vibe, the city immediately engrosses you into it's culture, fashion, food, and history. It is truly one of the most stunning cities. The city of blinding lights...

Design Practices...
Timeless pieces heavily influenced by contemporary, cultural and
historical factors is where my inspiration is derived from. Traveling from a
young age is something that has greatly motivated my viewpoints on aspects of
life and given me remarkable inspiration for my garments. I have learnt about
different features of the world, people, architecture, fashion and myself.
Characteristics of self-identity constantly appear in my designs through the
use of traditional styles of cuts and notions. Each of my garments tells a
story, I like to take notions from various countries and incorporate different
elements into each piece ensuring they’re all unique and matchless.
From cultural to
contemporary garments, each piece demonstrates how the world can be captivated
by fashion and influence society. I desire to intrigue the world through
fashion and let them feel my emotions through my expressive designs. I want to
connect people and the world together, all clothing have 'personalities' which
are brought out by the one unique persona. I am motivated by the ability to
transform a person and in turn providing uniqueness and identity through
fashion. Fashion is the uttermost form of self-expression to me. The use of
eclecticism in my works, portray there is a sense of urgency being created in
order to create an avant guard fashion scene.
My works are not characterised by a specific style, but rather many various elements brought
together, historical and cultural aspects in particular. I have mapped my life
out in a way where fashion is the emphasis, the focal point; The garments are a
personal depiction of how I want the world of fashion portrayed through the
elements of intricacy and post modernism in clothing. My garments represent
this through the structure and intricacy. Many of the works in the collections
have been heavily influenced by social, musical, architectural, cultural and
scientific domains, which are all contributing factors that help convey the
progression and development of fashion. I have derived elements from these
areas and combined them into various pieces of the collections.

New York... Concrete jungle where dreams are made of.
The beaming lights from Times Square
reflected inside my hotel room, it's true the city never sleeps. The vivid
colours and the vibrancy of the city was inspirational to me. Broadway was
astonishing, the plays were we're remarkable. The food delicious, my surroundings
were perfect. Now, the best for last... Fashion. The fashion scene in New York
is extremely brilliant. During fashion week all the restaurants, cafes and
stores until Bryant park are filled with people ready for the most vital week
of the year. New York is absolutely glistening all year round but especially
during fashion week, if you fashionistas want to see New York at its best,
during fashion week is the right time to be there. For a beautiful meal I
suggest the Armani café on 5th, the Alain Ducasse restaurant at the St. Regis
and a wonderful dinner at the Oak room at The Plaza.

VENICE
Water permanently flooding the streets seems like a nightmare but not in Venice. The second I saw the streets I was overwhelmed. I could feel the enchantment of Venice. I was struck by amazement. The city had captured me completely and engrossed me into its magic. I don’t know whether it was the romanticised lane ways or the boutiques but there was something magical. I found some really beautiful shops around St Mark's Square. The carnivale mask shops surrounding the area are very luxurious consisting of lavish masks with lovely ornamental notions. I particularly loved shopping for jewellery as I found many unique pieces. Murano glass can be purchased almost everywhere but exploring the lanes near St.Marks Square I found many small boutiques that stocked handmade ornamental pieces in various shapes and patterns. Follow the streets leading around the city centre and discover the magic Venice has to offer.
