Palais Garnier

Palais Garnier… This is my absolute favourite place in the world as mentioned previously… I could spend hours here, this is a building very close to my heart. Of course its stunning but theres so much more to the building than its appearance… I want to share with you my connection with this the Palais Garnier. Firstly It incorporates numerous design elements from a number of eras, I have a strong passion for anything eclectic and this is the ultimate example. I have always been so fascinated by the interiors and exteriors, growing up I spent hours sketching the building over and over again. It was through the density and intricacy of this building that I learnt how to draw detail and convey patterns through my sketches. This building has taught me about history and art simultaneously influencing my design ideals. The greco mosaic floors, byzantium style ceilings, roman elements, rococo pillars oh I could go on and on. As you now by now I'm a huge history buff and this building just happens to combine all my favourite eras and convey it beautifully as a whole. Charles Garnier based the Opera on Apollo through incorporating images of him throughout the space especially in the auditorium. many Greek mythological ideals are incorporated into this beautiful building. The atmosphere itself is so fascinating every time I visit there are numerous people sitting down sketching the extravagant interiors, the creative energy is surreal. I find that it is one of the best places to gain new ideas and empower previous ones. I have previously designed my favourite pieces sitting here, the energy flow is simply divine and the rush of amazement viewing the intricate detail will overpower you. If you visit Paris, ensure to put the Opera Garnier on your list. I promise you'll love simply being in the space!
